Be sure to confirm the dimensions of the medals as some medals were bigger than the spaces and also the shelf itself is very small so the number of medals that can be displayed is limited.

It latches on the side and comes with a key to lock it. Also note the front is plastic, not glass. The shelves are also removable. Overall a nice display case!

As is, there are 5 shelves to use. They have a groove cutout to hold items in place. It latches securely. It can be set on a shelf or hung on the wall. This is a very nice case to store medals or anything you want to keep safe and on display.
