You can only tell it’s not a real plant when you get right up close and personal (seriously you have to examine the leaves and stems)! The size is great to use as a faux plant on a shelf in the bathroom or a console table!

We used this in a stark room that was pretty monotone. We put in on a light wood-colored platter, on a shelf, and bought the Tennessee Great Smokey Mountains print to go with it, and the space is so much nicer now. The plant looks fairly real, happy with it!

If your room is very very dark ....this might be a great option.

Since I bought this after reading all of the 5 star "It looks real!!!!" reviews, I thought I'd leave an honest one. This does not look real in any way shape or form. It looks plastic. The pot is super pretty and really nicely done, heavy white ceramic. The moss looks nice. The leaves of the "plant" are a fake neon-y green. It is also smaller than expected. Not worth what I paid but also not worth the trouble to return. I put it in a dark corner.
