Slate Cheese Board

The cheese board looks very nice but it’s very delicate. The first one I received was cracked and I can see that it won’t take much to crack or break this one. I really like that you can write on the board with chalk for easy identification. Another issue is that where the cheese was placed left a grease-like mark and I couldn’t get it to come off with numerous cleanings.

It’s so lovely! I love having cheese boards at my parties, and this just makes it even better. It came in perfect condition and even came with chalk. It’s got some weight to it as it’s real slate. It’s gorgeous!

This slate serving tray is so much fun! Part of the enjoyment of making a cheese or charcuterie tray is having a bunch of different items on it, and it’s always a good idea to label things so people can know what they are eating. Regular chalk is all you need, but colored chalk would be a Pinterest-y upgrade. It’s especially useful for serving cheese, because many cheeses can look relatively alike and it’s nice to know what you’re digging into. Would also be fun to use for a cheese taste-off, where you’re pitting several of the same varieties of cheese (say, bleu cheese) against each other. So you could label them Cheese 1, Cheese 2, Cheese 3, and have a blind tasting so people aren’t influenced by a particular brand. (I hope someone else thinks this is a fun idea, and not just me!) The board cleans up well with soapy water, and the chalk comes off easily with a scrub. This is a great gift idea for people who entertain, or even a gift for your own family to take your appetizer trays up a notch.

I received my replacement Slate Cheese Board today. The first one was damaged in shipping. Customer Service immediately sent out a new one. I can’t wait to serve some cheese/appetizers on it. In the meantime I will use it as decor. It goes beautifully with my granite counters.

Very delicate. I was being very careful taking it out of the box, and it was packaged very well. But just removing it from the cardboard broke two of the pointy corners of the slate. I know slate is very delicate, but this seems to be extra delicate. I do not expect this to last and will use it for decoration only and far out of reach. It’s not bad looking and it’s nice that you can write on it if you want. Just know that it is very delicate. I put a rolling pin in front of it to make sure it doesn’t slide down and shatter.
