Transformers

A transformer is an electrical device that transfers electrical energy from one electric circuit to another in order to increase or decrease the voltage. Transformers used with lighting typically decrease the voltage to be compatible with low-voltage lighting such as under cabinet lighting, outdoor landscape lighting, and track lighting being just a few examples. Models vary by current type, voltage input, voltage output, and wattage. AC (alternating current) transformers are typically most compatible with incandescent bulb light fixtures and DC (direct current) transformers are typically most compatible with LED bulb light fixtures. Transformers decrease the voltage of a typical U.S. household (120V) to a lower voltage safe for your lighting fixture (12V-16V).

What are some features to look for in transformers for dimmer switches? During the brightest period of the day, there's no reason to burn lights at their most brilliant. Dimmer switches allow adjustment for the exact amount of light needed. You can use the dimmer switch to set the mood - dimming the lights to watch a movie or brighten the room when busy entertaining during games night.

Are there transformers for garden lighting that are programmable with a smartphone? Like everything else in the world, there's an App for that.
