This trash can is of superior quality. The lock is optional, so simply don't engage it if it's not needed. The color grey is very nice and would probably go with just about any color scheme. I want to love this as it seems very sturdy. It is thick plastic and even the screws are plastic, so there won’t be any rust. The doors are glass and I love that they lock. The only issue I had is my 10lb cat laid on the top of it and pushed the grate down. It was not sturdy. We pushed it back in the groove and used a staple gun to reinforce the edges. It seems to not have any give with it anymore. I think more reinforcement to the underside of the grate is definitely needed. I took a picture of it pushed in and after we stapled it back up. .
