The micro stitched flannel makes them super soft but not overly warm to touch (I love a cool pillow) on top of that the design has what appears to be a raised look but they are just as soft as the rest of the pillow.. We love these sheets,, they are so pretty,,, vibrant in color , Wash real nice, I've been washing them in hot water too, we use Downy Softner, that really makes them soft,, we have had no piling , or rips either,, we have a king, deep, moveable base, no issues with them ,,, they are a high quality flannel,, I hope they come in this print of a summer blend.
