I have never had a batch disposal before. I have always had the traditional ones that require a switch to turn on. The only real issue (and its not much of one) is with how our sink is in the kitchen island there isn't a good spot to set the plunger when not in use other than in the sink itself. It is powerful and I am really happy how well it does its job. There is no flap that covers the opening to the drain like on traditional disposals. I thought this would be an issue having it open and silverware falling in. With our drain off to the right it really has not been a problem. Although I did have a fork fall into it the fact that the disposals "neck" between the sink and the bottom is long so the fork never fully fell into the disposal it just stood straight up. Also not having that flap covering the disposal makes it much easier to see at a glance if anything has made its way in that should be there. It is noisy but not bad, just as I expected as from traditional. I like the safety of it not turning on unless the plunger is in. We have young kiddos. Just makes me feel better. This fireclay sink has two basins in a 90/10 ratio to help you easily organize your workflow how you like. The sink is reversibly glazed on all sides so you may choose to have the small bowl on the left or right side. All the rage because of its personality and function. It combines ease of use and durability. Finished in a glossy bright white glaze. All dimensions for fireclay sinks are nominal due to shrinking during the firing process. For this reason, we recommend waiting to receive your actual sink before purchasing a cabinet or making cuts to countertops. Dimensions will vary by up to .25 inches.
