This Prep Table is amazing! Not only is it functional, but it's a beautiful piece of furniture!!! I have always wanted a butcher block table and when it came on sale, I decided to purchase it. Mainly because I knew John Boos' tables are the very best, rarely do they come on sale, and after waiting this long, I wouldn't settle for less. My kitchen is actually small, and therefore my countertop limited. I was hoping the table would not only serve as a butcher block but as an extra workspace. And it does!!! It's perfect... I use it when taking dishes out of my dishwasher, when taking pans out of the oven, when making pie dough, etc. It's added much more functionality and convenience to my kitchen. Please note: It is important and necessary to oil the block every couple of weeks or so depending on the weather. This is an item that can be passed down for generations with fond memories :). Love this piece of furniture! The shipment arrived sooner than expected, and was left in an area that was protected from the weather. It is heavy, but I was able to get it inside and put it together without assistance. (I’m not saying it was without effort, but I’m a 60 year old woman and was able to do it.) The pieces are all sturdy and well built, free from any flaws. After assembling the block, I did have to have help flipping it upright and moving it into the kitchen. This is a buy that is well worth the money. I’m extremely pleased with this item and look forward to years of using it!. Mary. Birmingham, AL. 2022-10-18 18:12:07

Very classy design, heavy and sturdy with eye-catching detail and impressive proportions. This was a significant purchase for my new home, and it looks like it was made just for my kitchen. But I am not $1,500 worth of happy... I would put my happiness rating at about $900. But I paid over $1,500 and I have some issues with this item. Mostly, the paint and overall finish on the legs and frame it not what I expected. The little bare detail spots are very rough and not sanded smooth so they will snag clothing if you brush up against it. And the wood used for the legs is heavy but also can be dented quite easily (which happened during assembly using a hand tool). But the real kicker for me is the paint job... for this much money it just doesn't seem to be "finished." You can scratch it off with a fingernail. With 3 small dogs in my house this is a potential problem. Add to that, the paint was not sealed in any way- and John Boos SELLS a poly coat product! I guess John Boos wants me to buy spend another $30.... and apply it myself. Which would have been easier before I assembled it. Now that it's put together, it will be a difficult job. So for a piece that cost almost as much as my new leather sofa I am satisfied enough with it, but not totally happy and excited.. Karen M. Lawrenceville, GA. 2020-08-05 20:18:33
