I still haven't figured out how it's self watering and the instructions don't explain it but the item looks great! It has 2 compartments. It has drain holes and some other things (in picture) that look to flow water, but still not sure what they do. I will be filling it soon and will write back on how it works. I actually didn’t think this planter box would be as nice as it is, I am heavily impressed! The box is heavy and sturdy. I thought it was that cheap PVC stuff, which it’s not. It’s a lot thicker and I do not have to worry about it cracking. I love that it has a drainage system. This is a very stunning plant holder, especially near a door entrance. It makes a very nice and elegant statement. I also like there is a separate section which holds the plant that you can take in and out easily (see picture 2). It is very sturdy, simple, and classy with a decorative trim on the outside. This is the sturdiest plastic planter box I've ever had! It's so well made, solid and a great size! The middle section that holds the dirt and plants lifts all the way out to easily spill out or change plants without moving the whole square part of the planter; it's a really practical design! The only little thing that could have been better was that the screws that came with it to attach the "foot base" to the bottom weren't really long enough so we used different screws.
