Press the knobs on either side so the metal can slide, then step on the metal bar between the legs and pull your body upwards while continuing to depress the metal buttons. Love the table n the sturdiness. Only thing is when it arrived a few days ago it has a large scratch on top. The table is black so it is very noticeable. Hope Wayfair will give me some kind of refund for the large white scratch mark as I have already recommended this table to others and don't want them to be disappointed also. Purchased these to use in children’s education rooms at church, to replace non-folding adjustable tables that were also very heavy. These seem to fit our requirements - lightweight and adjustable: one person can adjust and fold legs and carry to different location.
