First issue: One box does not cover 54 sq. feet. It is more along the lines of 15 sq. feet. It is close to five dollars a square foot at 15 square feet instead of a little over a dollar for 54 square feet. Second issue: Flooring is shipped in original packing which does protect it from damage from shipping. Only two of my planks were not chipped or cracked. I've been looking for well over a year for a product like this that would be easy to work with, thick enough to hide some wall flaws, but thin enough to be able to work with behind my pedestal sink and not have too much of a profile against my trim. I am so happy I found this product! I am a relatively advanced DIYer, but even a beginner could use this and get beautiful results. It cuts easily with a box knife or scissors and is lightweight; just remember to measure twice and cut once CAREFULLY. The planks have plenty of variability in color and grain, as well as a convincing texture. While they acclimated I separated the planks first into three piles based on how much character each one has. I also cut some of them to different lengths and was able to create a nice, random pattern that looks very realistic. I had minimal waste, and all of the planks arrived in excellent shape with no damage to the corners or edges as you will often find with these kinds of products. So far I am very impressed. Bought the grey scale for our basement. Product looks great, sticks nicely, easy to work with. My 13 year old and I laid about 140sqft in just under 3 hours. My recommendations are to definitely do a good job of prepping the surface. We did a serious scrape and vacuum. Then mopped with simple green and then laid down am adhesion primer.
