NuTone® interlocked make-up air dampers provide outside air when required to keep the air in the home fresher by allowing the range hood to operate at optimum levels. Slave dampers (MD6S, MD8S, and MD10S) are interlocked to the main automatic or universal make-up air damper and open in unison for synchronized operation. They close, along with the main damper, as soon as the range hood is powered off. Slave dampers can be ganged together to provide a cost-effective means to provide for higher volumes of make-up air.

Great improvement in color & style over previous range hood. Luv the up dated styling. Bottom of cabinet isn't flush so couldn't use easy brackets. Two person install was easy & quick, though. Airflow is strong which explains an expected loud noise level, in high position. Fits great below cabinet. Nice profile. Will be using unducted & want to add charcoal filters for the occasional sautéing & broiler use. The LED lights are bright & make my stove top shine nicely - like showroom quality. My old Broan hood was ruined because of a power surge (neutrality). It was only 5 years old, but discontinued, and the parts to fix it were not available, so I had to replace it. It was insured. It's not as nice as the original.. Anonymous. Mon Sep 08 2025

Purchased MTR2303SS this morning and spent a couple of hours installing it this afternoon. I replaced a 40 year old unit. Space was a little tight and I struggled to get the "EZ" brackets in the right place. Installing a range hood in general is not as easy as it sounds in most cases, particularly if the existing wiring isn't in quite the right place or the ducting is off by a 1/2 inch, etc. Don't forget you need to be ambidextrous and work putting pressure "up" to screw into the underneath of cabinets. In the end, with a couple of breaks, I did manage to get it installed by myself, much of that time was just getting the old one out. I'm sure an experienced person has tricks to get things right, but I did not. I must admit the brackets do help hold things in place, once you get them right (maybe a template would help?). Essentially, you get the brackets installed, then feed the wiring through, then put the securing screws in place. I also ran into trouble where the bottom of the cabinet door was too low so I had to back off the screws and put a shim in to lower the hood 1/4 inch. I'm not a fan of the "beeping" with every button press and with the 2 stage light (which is handy) you have to cycle through both settings to turn it off as there is no direct way. These are the reasons I only gave 4 out of 5. The LED lighting is great and 2 light levels is an improvement over our old unit. The 3 speed fan is great and is an improvement over our old Hi/Low fan (and I don't find it "noisy", its a fan and will make noise). The timer function will be very useful as our old unit didn't have this option.. David777. Ottawa, ON. Mon Jul 21 2025

I absolutely love this hood. The black stainless steel matches my other appliances from another brand perfectly. The fan is quite powerful and the dual led lights are amazingly bright and make cooking on the stovetop so much better. It hasn’t been installed long enough to evaluate the longevity or the efficiency of the filters or how easy they are to clean, but considering their size and placement I don’t foresee any problems.. Full function handheld fan/light control with independent light control. Wall holster and 3-volt battery included.

We bought a foreclosure home and clearly the fan part wasn’t attached to a switch like the light was and had no pull cords. Is a nice fan so wanted to keep it, but wasn’t even sure if we could get a replacement remotesbut we found it and while not happy with the price, it works great and was easy to program.. Angela. Perfect for replacement as well as new installations, this powerful 4-way convertible range hood will fit into most applications. The enclosed light and fan/filter assembly make for easier cleaning.

The instructions made it easy for someone with no knowledge whatsoever to remove the previous range hood and install this new one. Light isn't blindingly bright and the fan work well.
