Issues started right away with the amount of plastic used to ship this item. Yikes. Less plastic in the future would be super ideal. The next issue I noticed was the stitch used was simple and not at all weatherproof that Id think would be on this. If you have a sewing machine then it would be a easy fix to put stronger stiches into it, if not well youd have to pay someone or I fear this will last maybe a summer. Onto instructions lol maybe it was an off day for me because I hate to admit that I took much longer trying to figure out if I was missing something on the last step in step four than normal. Also, the the long black plastic stuck is the tread. I thought it would have been stronger material. Lastly I do not have any pictures of it up yet because when I hired someone to put it up I was informed I needed a permit to have it put up!! So crazy so Im going to be looking into that and Ill update if Wayfair allows me to. So far Id buy this for a temporary type outdoor upgrade. Time will tell if its Florida weather safe.. Kimberly. The awning is great so far. We have 12*10 size. We added this on our deck on vinyl sliding.. needed to find the stud and used ledger-lock instead of given screws ( as those can only be used in brick).. looks pretty solid, will have to see how it holds in wind.. LOVE LOVE LOVE this awning. Its very sturdy, sleek and beautiful. Adds a touch of class to my back yard and plenty of shelter from Oregons rain and UV rays! Particularly appreciate the built in movable gutter system. I plan to add potted plants with a couple rain chains attached to the gutter ends to add some interest and babbling sounds. Since installation of the awning, I've noticed the back of my house is about 10 degrees cooler. The top panels are shaded plexiglass...so plenty of light comes through. It was installed on an existing concrete patio (12 X 20) and I opted for the 10 X 17 awning. It took 2 young gentlemen two 4-5 hour days to install it....but they also did some much house painting before the installation (as you can see from my photo). One thing to note (we found this out the hard way)....do NOT place this too high to your gutters. It will force the support legs to invade the open covered space you wish for. After a bit of modification by lowering the support system....the legs were moved to the very end of the panels and looks amazing. If I had to do it over again....I would in a NY minute. Only change I would make is to order the awning to cover the 20 ft length of my patio. Just make sure you really READ and follow the instructions and be sure NOT to secure it too close to your gutter system. VERY HAPPY with this purchase...and got it at a great price (which was what prompted me to make the purchase!). Shipping is relatively slower than most, it I guess as expected for large, oversized items. Ordered 3/26, shipped on 4/8, arrived at a Wayfair delivery site on 4/10, and is supposed to be delivered on 4/12. After researching reliability vs. ease of installation vs. price, I decided on the Heritage Patio. Cannot wait to install this weekend. Will update as to ease of installation, overall look, and functionality. After I received via shipping: Pros: Economical, good, solid awning for the price. Relatively easy to assemble, although it would held tremendously to have additional help! Looks great once assembled. Cons: Why did I undertake this project by myself? I am relatively handy, and it took approximately 12 hours to assemble by myself. The directions are garbage. The pictures are useless, often showing something different than what is being referenced. There are sometimes multiple names for the same piece of material that you must figure out. These overlap perfectly, yet the last roof panel was about 6” too wide, and had to be cut. You are supposed to be able to snap roof panels together. NO way, especially standing on an 8 ft ladder. I had to spend about 10 minutes each roof panel, bending one of the sides all the way down the length of the panel, just so it would snap into place. The directions are very vague about heights and measuring for poles, where it can and cannot be placed, etc... the directions showed included materials that included a masonry bit, later on, it shows masonry but not included. Directions also call all small screws, under 2”, sheet metal screws, and you must figure out which screw goes with which particular step you are on. Overall Impression: be prepared to study directions for a day or two and familiarize yourself with all the parts before attempting to assemble! This will save you time in the long run! Overall, after reading other reviews about length of time and help for assembly, I am glad the length of time was only 12 hours.
