I chose to purchase the 35 inch gas cooktop with five burners by Impava because I really like the photo presentation on the website. The gas on black glass really appeals to me and has a very modern look and beautiful aesthetic. Although my kitchen is set up for either gas or 3-phase electric, I really do prefer the gas cooktop. However this gas cooktop also requires a standard 12 volt outlet for pilot ignition. The steel grates with the center wok double burner almost makes this look like a high-end professional cooktop. However higher end cooktops typically have a 17,000 or 18,000 BTU Max output burner. This units Center burner has a max output of 13,000 BTUs, but do not let that deter you from making this purchase, because high-end units typically cost around 1,700, and this unit costs only a quarter of that of higher-end models, and that should peak just about anybodys interest who is budget savvy. Although this is a 35-in cooktop, its more closer to a 35 and a half inch cooktop which should work if you are looking for a standard 36 inch cooktop, just make sure you have just the right amount of lip to support the less-quarter of an inch on either side. NOW for the negatives ... Turning on the ignition pilot and gas for any of the burners, is a little bit difficult and requires just a bit of finesse and getting used to due to its safety ignition features (although, I consider not being able to ignite a gas pilot to be less of a safety feature and more of a liability). Wayfair states that this unit comes with a power on indicator as well as an auto shut off ... That appears to be a copy and paste error from another electric unit model. Where my biggest grievance is lies is on the misleading photos. They show to have control knobs that have a beautiful black brushed aluminum finish. Howeve, those photos are disappointingly misleading, because the knobs are just a bland black plastic finish that looks and feels cheap - with a difficult to see (almost worn looking) arrow position indicator which further complicates the difficult pilot ignition (they could have at least painted the arrow white). Every time I reach for the knob, I feel both cheated (because the photos are misleading) and frustrated (because its difficulty of use). I purchased this unit during a Presidents Day sale with an additional first-time purchase credit card discount. I would not have been very happy paying a full price on this unit especially given the negative experience, and I would have been happy to pay the additional few hundred dollars more for a popular branded model, like GE or Samsung. Nonetheless, it looks strikingly beautiful (less the control knobs) and works amazing (when Im not fidgeting with getting the pilots to ignite), and the reduced cost from the sale and promotion, almost makes up for the disappointment and pilot-ignition learning curve. If you are unlike me and are not put off by the control knobs, or learning how to ignite gas pilots, then this is actually a very excellent product to purchase. I would have given this four stars or even five, had I known beforehand about the awkward ignition, and had the photos gave accurate presentation and not be misleading.. Michael. . 2022-03-01 03:55:54
