We love being able to check in when we’re at work or away from home. Our backyard is open and we’ve had problems with people coming into our yard. Thankfully we had a place to put our camera already as our houses previous owner had a different camera up. Instillation and set up was a breeze. We love that is has a light that pops on when it detects motion and that we can talk through it and set off an alarm. It adds a level of safety that we really appreciate. The camera sees a very wide area so our entire yard can be seen (though at night we can’t see the back half since we have an acre, which is fine with us). The quality is okay but do wish is was a little better. Any movement makes the object a bit blurry and sometimes can be hard to tell what it is. Does okay with people. Installation and setup were easy with the provided instructions, and the Ring app which walks you through the process. If you are new to Ring you will need to download the app, which is free and user-friendly. I installed this camera over my garage door so that I could monitor the driveway and garage area of my home. Since this camera is a plug-in version I was able to conveniently plug it in via a standard plug just inside of the garage door and tuck the excess cable cord inside of the garage to give it a neat appearance. Once installed, I was able to easily customize the settings to my liking such as motion sensitivity, alerts, lights, video settings, etc. This spotlight cam is very unique in features compared to other basic security cameras; it has 3D motion detection, Bird's Eye View, two-way talk, and a security siren just to name a few. I love that I can monitor my surroundings remotely via the Ring app on my smartphone any time day or night. The color night vision and 1080 HDR video quality provide clear images even at nighttime. The two LED spotlights provide adequate lighting and can be set to come on with motion, programmed on a schedule, have adjustable brightness, and you can turn them off and on manually if you prefer. There is a small monthly fee associated with the use of Ring depending on what type of subscription you choose that lets you review, share, and save video and photos captured by your device, but it is optional and you get a 30-day free trial when you register a new device. Also, this Ring Spotlight Cam Pro model is a plug-in style but has the option for a rechargeable battery, but the battery pack is sold separately so keep that in mind just in case the power goes out in your home you won't be able to continue recording/monitoring if that happens. I have had nothing but great experiences with this spotlight cam and it has given me peace of mind knowing that whether I am home or away I can depend on it to keep me informed of what is going on outside of my home. It is easy to install with a few steps with the ring app. It is simple to connect to your internet with a couple steps. Easy to understand tutorial when beginning. It is simple enough for not so savvy tech users. The ring itself it is easy to install on any wall outside or hanging area. It is great to place under a covering which is what i planned on doing so snow doesn't sit on it. Long outlet cording which I was unsure about because of being outdoors but it is heavy duty. The spotlight itself is great and clear as day picturing. It has a great feature where you can turn the spotlight on with a touch of a button. It has great features that is better then any other security system. I can watch my front door without having any worries that my house is in trouble.
