They are indoor cats but we wanted to give them a safe sanctuary when are not home. I put the structure together myself and it probably would have gone quicker if I had help but I took my time and the instructions were easy enough to follow. The wood is strong enough for indoor but I don’t think it would last long outside in the elements. I didn’t use the roofing material that came with it since I have it inside the house. Love this! Debated about the purchase for a while, but finally went for it, and my cats are in love. Its sturdy and assembly instructions are straight forward. Plenty of room for both of my large cats (about 12-14 lbs each). I added some finer screening around it to keep bugs out (just stapled it to the frame) and created a wood frame that fits inside my window so it can be secured without attaching it to the exterior of my house. This was a replacement for one that lasted 5 years (including midwest winters)... my 2 cats love hanging out in this. Assembly takes some time and some mechanical skills... a drill is helpful for screws. Love it! Pretty easy to assemble, just wish the pictures on the directions were much clearer. Much bigger than what I had anticipated, so had to angle it on our deck.
