I think the color is more denim/blue than navy but it worked out just fine in the room so no complaints. The shade seems a bit darker/browner to me than in the online pictures but perhaps that is the light bulb we used. . I purchased open box and both were in excellent condition. Previous reviews I read complained about imperfections but I really think it's just unique textures in each lamp - not a flaw. There is a filter to put on top of the lamp and it does not connect or attach in any way - just sits on top.
