Brought out in 1987 and designed for Artemide by Michele De Lucchi with Giancarlo Fassina, the Tolomeo was an immediate bestseller, consolidating a working relationship that continues to this day. Inspired by traditional balanced arm lamps like the famous Naska Loris, his challenge was to combine an iconic and “domestic” form with innovative technologies and materials, adapting it to a wide variety of uses and settings.

This lamp is awesome. Has a great look and presence, and the arm that holds the light is high and long enough to illuminate the center of our table without hanging anything from the ceiling or needing to do electrical work to add a new light. Plugged into the existing wall outlet and done. Solved our lighting dilemma in style. Yeah- it’s a bit pricey- but probably cheaper than trying to get an electrician to come figure out how to get a light fixture installed where we wanted it. And it’s cool!. Steve.
