Much better construction than I expected! Though, there is a small nick on the tabletop near where the butterfly leaf is, but it is barely noticeable. I would also suggest paying attention to the width of this table. I was so focused on length, I didn't pay attention to the width. This one is 5 inches more narrow that our last table. This is a very sturdy, quality made table. I was nervous to make such a large purchase online but we are very pleased with it. The buttermilk is more of a tan/gray as previous comments state.
