We love the whimsy of the rectangle lucite zebra tray. The Scalamandre zebra pattern in the color of blue denim is your fun serving tray and/or gift for the adventurer in us all. A little background history: In 1945, Flora Scalamandre was asked by a friend in New York, Gino Circiello, who was opening a small restaurant to develop a fun, animated wallpaper for his new restaurant Gino's. He fell in love with the whimsical repeat of the prancing zebras that she presented to him. The motif was instantly put into repeat and printed on wallpaper in the color of the rich marinara sauce. It's still a hit today! Scalamandre offers patterns in fabric and wallpaper in multiple colors.

A little background history: Originally designed in the 1940s for the Gino of Capri restaurant, lovingly known as "Ginos" by New Yorkers, Scalamandre restored the Zebras wallcovering in the upper east side institution in the 1970s after it was destroyed in a fire. Flora Scalamandre, wife of Franco, free-handed the signature motif that would come to be known as the iconic Scalamandre zebras. The pattern is celebrated the world over in design and in the movies. It was featured in the "Royal Tannebaums" and "Mighty Aphrodite." The pattern design has grown in color offerings and mediums.

Indeed fashion. Leads the charge. While the name carries overtones of tropical, it was actually inspired by the core décor of the capital city of our founder's favorite island retreat. That style is international in color and craft, and the grasscloth's pairing with hand-finished tortoise inspires us to bring the whole suite of trays, coasters, and frames into our own homes!
