I would classify this as a luxury firm mattress. I have back issues and need a firm mattress, but hate how they hurt my hips when laying on my side. This mattress you do not have that. It has a nice layer of cushion on top that settles into a firm mattress. I bought two, one for the spare and one for the master and couldn't be more pleased. Especially for the price! Check out reviews for this mattress online - they're all 5 star! It took about 12 hours to puff up enough to sleep on( the pic is from about 10 hours after opening), and within 2 days was at full inflation. What a great memory foam mattress! It was easy to unwrap and extend open. I waited 24hrs to allow full air expansion. It feels great, I slept like a baby, it instantly helped with my lower back issues ( guess I needed a new mattress). If you are a side/stomach sleeper this will feel amazing! This is a medium to soft mattress which is the perfect firmness if you have hip or back pain. Nice amount of curve hugging, without feeling like you are sinking. Box arrived without damage in 3 days and it was just as I expected. I got the king size, so it was a 2 person job. We took it out of the box in the driveway, carried it up the steps, placed it on the existing box spring, and then followed the instructions. There are 2 plastic wraps. The mattress was folded in half, so we unfolded it, and cut off the second plastic wrap. It went from completely flat and too small to over 12" tall and perfect from corner to corner in less than one minute. This hybrid is replacing a less than a year old cool gel style 12" foam only mattress. We noticed an immediate difference from the gel to this hybrid. It feels much softer, more like a pillow top, but still with the edge firmness to be able to put socks and shoes on from the sides/end. There is a smell when unwrapping (not unpleasant), but it went away very quickly and after an hour it is not noticeable. I think this is very normal for the foam mattress styles. After sleeping uncomfortably on a gel mattress (another brand) we are excited to wake up without body aches! This is better than I had hoped, I will update this if it is anything less than 5 stars.. This is an amazing bed I’ve had this bed since November of 2022 , I’m writing this review in March 2023. I sleep beautifully every night no aches or pains when I wake up. There’s no issues with a dip or anything we lay at different spots during naps and stuff and that helps. The major problem I have with this bed …… if you are sweaty or have BO issues, do NOT get this bed . The sweat and stench gets trapped in the bed and it feels ruined. I use baking soda to help deodorize it but it just seems like the moisture and bacteria is trapped . I use a mattress protect also. Otherwise you’ll love this bed it’s the best bed for your back it contours and I used. A coupon site and got free shipping so look around for coupons when making purchase.. So far, so great! The smell is not overt nor unbearable, and I am told that the mattress immediately inflated to its size. The first night it was okay for comfort, and excellent with cooling(I sleep hot normally) and the second night was perfect comfort. It is mediumfirm and normally I prefer firm but as this is my first memory foam, its perfect for me. I woke up refreshed and not in pain. I have severe back issues, surgery on Left L45S1 laminectomy when I was 29. Its a very nice looking mattress, as well. I was concerned about no longer having a pillowtop mattress, but I can say that I do not miss it. I will update in 98 days if I still love it or if I exchanged it, which is a wonderful Wayfair feature to have when you buy a mattress from them. This is what tipped me in their favor. Mattress came quickly and I was very happy with that. Still very happy with the mattress, and it has been 2 years. I got an adjustable base a year ago and it works good with that.
