I would classify this as a luxury firm mattress. I have back issues and need a firm mattress, but hate how they hurt my hips when laying on my side. This mattress you do not have that. It has a nice layer of cushion on top that settles into a firm mattress. I bought two, one for the spare and one for the master and couldn't be more pleased. Especially for the price! Check out reviews for this mattress online - they're all 5 star! It took about 12 hours to puff up enough to sleep on( the pic is from about 10 hours after opening), and within 2 days was at full inflation.
