Instructions are all in picture form. Some text would have helped with ease of assembly or organizing the pictures differently. Once assembled, gate works well. Lockunlock mechanism is a bit stiff but overall not a serious issue. Gate will be used to prevent dogs from going down the stairs as one has vertigo and the other gets too playful near the stairs for my comfort. Size was just right for my width and railing height..
