It took me three and a half hour to build, granted I was building it alone as a solo female. There was a period where the screws would not screw in to assemble both parts together, it was so frustrating and because of that I was stuck in the same step for over an hour. It works with our new 16-inch-high mattress and adjustable base, although the headboard does look a little short with such a tall mattress and base.
