I have been using the old model for seven years.. got this as a nice gift to self and almost didn’t buy them because of some of the reviews. This is like caviar to the one I gad .. very little noise , easy clean ups and less fruits and vegetables.. that old juicer were eating up my fruits etc. I don’t know why people complaining about the clean up .. you used it you gave to cleaned it until you you want cross contamination.And please wash it before you used it ;it still smells like the factory but is fine once it’s wash.. the trash bin is huge.. just wish the catch container were bigger but I set another container that can hold enough for the hubby and I.This is well worth the price, assembly is easy as 123. I didn’t insured it didn’t worth the money in my opinion.i usually shopby reviews but it’s always so hard because usually it’s so hard when people don’t get to the real point and purpose of the products. Decades ago I had a centrifugal juicer (that is not made anymore : the Nutrimax). Then I upgraded to a Champion. Then to a Green Star Elite 5300. It brought an important difference in my life : I use it! Daily! Why? Taste the difference and you will have the answer : it's as simple as that! Before choosing the Greenstar, I carefully studied other brands of single-auger and dual-gear machine, and the Norwalk. From personal trials, I have the impression the Greenstar is second best to the Norwalk. I would rate the GS approximately 90 to 95% as good as the Norwalk. Now consider that here, in Canada, the Greenstar is 21% of the cost of the Norwalk (and an awful lot simpler to use) and you understand why I chose the GS. For me, being 5% better did not justify being 466% costlier! Saying I'm happy with my 5300 is an understatement. It does not only keep its promises : it actually exceeds them. Best on greens (it is a "green" star you see?) which are THE veggies I juice most. When I was a newcomer to the GS Elite, I had serious problems cleaning the %?$#& thing. Then I got a few time-saving tricks like, after drinking my juices and prior to cleaning the juicer, I take the knob out and I throw water in the chute while the gears are running, a little bit at a time (50~60cc or 2oz). It pushes most of the pulp out and unsticks the pulp from the gears, making cleaning err... not a breeze but a lot easier. In short, the more I use it, the more I love it. :D. Jean-Guy Larocque.
