So far so good! I bought this to upgrade from the current Brother sewing machine I have which is very basic. I have tried it a few times and tried most of the stitch patterns to see how they turned out. Every single one looks great. I used a practice quilt to see how well it works with layers of fabric and that also worked well. Threading the bobbin and everything else works as it should too. This a great machine! New sewist here - this was easy to setup and use! I had to replace my Singer One that was brand new but frozen up, and a friend lent me her old Brother machine. I fell in love, so when it came time to order my own I did the research and picked this model to invest in. It's a step up from what I had been practicing on, with 100 stitches, and many feet. I feel like I'll be able to just about everything from garment construction to making bags to making quilts on this machine. It was easy to thread! And I love the automatic sewing feature so I don't have to concentrate on the foot pedal while I'm trying to learn to sew straight and handle my fabric as it goes through the machine..
