This was perfect for my 7 year old son. He sleeps on the top bunk and I really like that the rails are on all sides. Having a ladder on both ends makes placement a breeze. Will be using the futon more as a couch for reading, playing etc. He thinks it is very, very cool to have a couch in his room. It was very easy to put together for 1 person, I only needed help with attaching the top slat to the frame. Took about 2-3 hours tops. The 7 year old is now 17. And this bed is still going strong. It's aight. No issues with holes out of place put together in 1 hr 45 minutes one person. A little hard to get over the ladder. I sure hope weight limit of 400 lbs is accurate cause I'm 140 and my kid 30 and a good 20 pnd mattress and bedding. It wobbles but there is a kit I will install tomorrow to secure it to the wall to prevent wobble. The wobble doesn't feel unsafe and it is not creaky at all even when I got on it. Before you buy this bed make sure you’re right with the Lord. If you are planning to build this as a couple get a marriage counselor. Be sure to have a case of wine and soothing music that can muffle your foul language. Lay every piece out and count all the screws and hardware. We were missing vital pieces and had to have them shipped. I put each screw, dowel, hardware in separate baggies and labeled them. Be prepared for areas to not be pre drilled especially the ladder. We had to build piece by piece in the garage and carry it to his room to assemble. This bed will have to burn down with the house before I attempt to take it apart and move it.
