These are nice. I was looking to replace the cheap set I had from college. I really liked the idea of the black steel and the hammered handles go with our flatware. Overall, they have a nice weight to them and are solid knives, very sharp. I could tell the difference from my old knives right away. We cook a lot, so these will get a lot of use and need to hold up. However, after two months, they have already started rusting. I handle them properly after use, I don't soak them and I dry them right away. To see these spots now is disappointing, because they would be really good otherwise.. Cory. I recently did a big kitchen cabinet clean out and discarded every single mismatched piece of Cutlery I owned ...which left me with a few very nice pieces ,but not a full set of steak knives ...this Viking steak knife set is more than I could have hoped for !! This Viking set was just too good to pass up and Im so happy that I didnt !! When they arrived they were in pristine condition ..they were well packaged.. there was no movement during the shipping process at all... they were perfect !! The first thing that you see is this gorgeous wooden box ...the weight of the entire set is substantial.. even without seeing them I knew I had made the right decision ...opening the box was wonderful they are actually larger than I anticipated!! The photos in the sale listing do not do these knives Justice ...these are big beautiful steak knives .the handles are solid ,the cutting surface is extraordinary ,the weight that these knives have surpasses anything Ive ever owned.. when you hold this Viking steak knife in your hand you know that youre holding a knife!! .. unlike most of the wannabe knock-offs ! These knives have a nice weight to them. The handles are perfectly shaped and are rounded, which assists in providing a firm grip when slicing. Also a plus is that the handle feels slightly textured (matted grey color) so it is not slippery in the hand when cutting. They come with a black plastic tip cover to go over the sharp point of the knife. I will definitely keep on since I will be placing in a drawer. These are very sharp and easily cut thru the chicken without tearing the meat. Definitely worth the price. It states that they are dishwasher safe but hand washing is recommended. This is a a really nice set. I love that the color is more of an old penny color than a rose gold color. They do have a satin finish so not shiny or dull. They are excellent quality.
