The awning is great so far. We have 12*10 size. We added this on our deck on vinyl sliding.. needed to find the stud and used ledger-lock instead of given screws ( as those can only be used in brick).. looks pretty solid, will have to see how it holds in wind.. Issues started right away with the amount of plastic used to ship this item. Yikes. Less plastic in the future would be super ideal. The next issue I noticed was the stitch used was simple and not at all weatherproof that Id think would be on this. If you have a sewing machine then it would be a easy fix to put stronger stiches into it, if not well youd have to pay someone or I fear this will last maybe a summer. Onto instructions lol maybe it was an off day for me because I hate to admit that I took much longer trying to figure out if I was missing something on the last step in step four than normal. Also, the the long black plastic stuck is the tread. I thought it would have been stronger material. Lastly I do not have any pictures of it up yet because when I hired someone to put it up I was informed I needed a permit to have it put up!! So crazy so Im going to be looking into that and Ill update if Wayfair allows me to. So far Id buy this for a temporary type outdoor upgrade. Time will tell if its Florida weather safe.. Kimberly. The packaging of this patio enclosure was not securely closed and the box itself looked like it had seen better days. The clear tarp works well however the picture is different from what is shown in photos on the website. there were no black dividers along the length of the piece (it is just one solid piece, which is fine with me, it was just different than what was shown. the measurements were also confusing. the length and width measurement seemed to be switched in the purchasing options listed as 8feet wide and anywhere from 8, 16, 20 feet in height... I took a gamble that the measurements where reversed. thankfully I got an 8foot high, and 20 foot long patio enclosure. There was also no pull up cord with this "curtain" as it was shown. We love our pergolas! Very easy to put together. It was a cheaper way to cover our back patio for the time being! We just bought our house back in September and wanted to give our patio a cozy feel for the summer nights coming up soon! It also helps with the rain hitting our basement doors! I did spray each canopy, top and bottom, with a waterproof sealant for extra protection before attaching them onto the pergolas! We have had some heavy rain storms and they have held up very well! The only thing is that I have to go out and hit the water out of the canopy after a rain storm so that it’s not just sitting on there. It only catches on the 3rd row up right above the row with the drain holes. Other than that small thing, we couldn’t be happier with our pergolas! We have had so many compliments! Overall pretty nice, the installation instructions are a bit lacking but that’s par for the course. The only thing so far that I’m not a fan of is the mounting brackets. If you are trying to mount to studs then your spacing is limited. I am unable to fully close the awning because the closest stud points are to far in from the ends and get in the way. Also the paint can scratch pretty easily when mounting, touch up paint would be a nice addition. On a positive note there is quite a bit of adjustment room for the angle of the extended awning, so this can be mounted just over a standard door and still have enough room for my 6’2” frame to stand straight under the far end. After reading the reviews before ordering, the directions were not as horrible as I thought they would be, but not as clear as they should have been. Basically you connected the left side to the right for the 3 main sections, then connected the 3 sections together. I originally put the front piece on backwards do to the unclear instructions, but I was able to rectify my error pretty easily. As far as attaching the awning to the front of my pool shed, we removed the front board and attached a 2x8 to the roof rafters, we then attached the 3 brackets that hold the awning onto the 2x8, aiming for the roof rafter studs. We bought some heavy duty screws that you would use assembling a wooden swing set instead of using the expansion bolts that came with the awning, and intended for concrete or brick. It has only been up 3 days, but it appears to be sturdy. There is a gap between the roofline and the awning, so I need to get a piece of flashing to cover the gap so that we don't get wet during rain. Speaking of rain, our 4th of July party was a washout and other than the gap, kept me and my guests dry. I had to regularly push the water that was pooling in the awning off, but it made for a nice water park bucket experience for the kids walking around the pool, lol! I hope the pictures help..
