I gave this so much thought. So happy I spent a few extra bucks and got this. You will need two people to move it. The recommended Kohler drain assembly is also a little more expensive but worth it. This rectangular 48" x 36" KOHLER Enameled Cast Iron base features a single threshold. Safeguard® slip-resistant surface is included for added safety and convenience.

My husband bought this shower base because he was afraid that a tiled shower base might leak in the long run. Nevertheless we purchased this Kohler shower base. It came in a crate that was half open. After installing he noticed two scratches on it. Tried calling Wayfair but could not get through because of COVID. I’m hoping that they sell some type of product that can buff out the scratches. Otherwise it looks like a good solid shower base. . Anna. East Haven, CT. Fri Jun 19 2020

Transolid ultra-low linear shower bases are the perfect choice to replace an old tub. They are to accommodate traditional tub sizes and the drain from the wall to line up with an existing tub drain. Made of numerous layers of Transtone, a sheet-molded compound material that is solid throughout the base and is supported by sturdy structural ribs underneath that radiate out from the drain opening. When combined with a thin-set mortar installation, this creates a flex-free, water-tight installation and a foundation that you can count on. The base features an ultra-low threshold that is just a smidgen wider to even accommodate popular farmhouse style barn doors. The surface is scratch, impact, and slip-resistant with a beautiful slate finish for a minimalist look.
