I did a lot of research on range hoods. The big box retail stores have brands that don't have a CFM that can clear actual cooking. 400 CFM isn't going to do the job folks. Maybe if you're boiling water out of a 8 inch frying pan, but I'm thinking you're likely not doing that. Check online and you'll find Cavaliere is well reviewed. As for my review, this thing really sucks - in a great way! With 2 young children, something on the stove is bound to burn while taking care of them. This hood has 6 different speeds. We usually have it on 2, but if something is burning to a pan, then set it to 5 or 6 and you avoid the smoke detectors from going off. The fact that you likely just need this on 2 and it clears most of the cooking vapor, you enjoy a quieter motor than the box store 400 CFM models that you have to put on the highest setting where you can't hear a thing and still can't clear the vapor. This is why this model is great, lower setting and still takes care of business and is decently quiet. It looks really good in the kitchen as well. It’s a good “high end” range hood without paying so much. It looks really nice. The 6 speeds are awesome because you have more control. I highly recommend getting a range hood of 800 cfm if you do a decent amount of cooking. Any less will make your whole house smell like food. The only sleek minimalist and modern hood with high CFM that we could find for a lower price point. I cook a lot so needed a strong exhaust hood. Love the easy to clean baffles. We had another hood by Cavalier that lasted us about 12 years before the motor broke. That one had the mesh filters that you can clean in the dishwasher, but after several years, there was too much grease buildup and couldn’t find replacements.
