The GOOD: - table and chairs are all solid hardwood. No MDF, no particle board, no plywood. Heavy, solid and I would expect it to hold up well over the long term. This is not easy to find for an 8 pc set at this price. - finish and design are attractive. nice cherry satin tabletop finish and a matte buttermilk finish on the legs and chairs. to my eye the buttermilk has a slight oyster grayish tone which works well - packaging and delivery were excellent. very well protected. The BAD: Quality control is clearly lacking. See photos. 1. The finish on one end of the table is misapplied / incomplete and there are "chatter" marks in the finish on another section. Looks as though someone's spray gun was malfunctioning? See photos. 2. There is a hairline crack in the tabletop. See photo. 3. Two of the 8 chairs had one leg with a poorly threaded insert. It was impossible to get the bolt in more than halfway. See photo. Still useable but I will reserve those 2 chairs for my young kids since I'm not sure how well this will support an adult's weight. OVERALL: It's a nice piece and looks great in the room. I think it will hold up well. The defects are frustrating but I already discarded all the packing material and have neither the time nor the energy to pursue a return / exchange for another unit so I will live with them.
