The Embassy's dropped ceiling kit is installed quickly thanks to an innovative rail and anchoring system, tested and patented. The ingenious concept allows a minimal clearance of only 1-¾ inch between joists and the ceiling all while offering a contemporary design and maximizing the room’s ceiling height. The system offers an adjustable height to adapt to uneven joists. The laminated tiles are both stylish and functional as they are resistant to sagging and easy to clean. Make sure to choose the right kit according to your needs, because there are some differences between the kid and the kit. nicely made polystyrene pieces which are well designed, but require an expert carpenter for a quality installation due to slight variations from piece to piece, injected molded from similar but not identical molds. Per my carpenter, these were convenient, but required a tremendous of finesse and adjustments at every miter joint to look right. Quality glue (PL Premium) and a solid substrate that will not move (a grid of 1x3's glued and screwed to ceiling joists) are essential for stability. Overall "a wash" in terms of time and expense compared to having full boxes and mouldings constructed the old fashioned way. For the curved bay windows straight pieces needed to be hollowed out, bent, and carefully glued and tacked in place under high tension. These tiles were exactly what I was looking for. It's important to note that with this design, the center square goes above the ceiling grid vs. sitting below it, so this is perfect for my application as the basement in my home is quite low in some areas where there is duct work, allowing me to optimize head space versus other designs that droop below the ceiling grid. Keep in mind you may have issues with delivery as I had several times due to damaged edges, but Wayfair had solved the issue promptly and sent me replacement tiles free of charge. Vincent.
