Overall, I absolutely love this desk! It did arrive with a few minor issues that Wayfair rectified. This is a solid piece of furniture. I would definitely recommend paying for the delivery and setup. The two compartments on the top lift up to open but sadly they do not lock in place to remain open, which could be a little inconvenient but there is a slow close on it so it does not slam closed. **TIP** there is a piece that covers the top so you can possibly sit items up there that is probably some type of mdf board and it probably blends in with the packaging and mine was thrown out, so just be mindful and ask for that piece. I purchased this for extra storage in our bedroom. I was especially pleased that the dimensions were exactly as described since I needed the shelves to fit specific items. The product fit the space perfectly, is well-constructed, and looks much more expensive than it was. One caveat is that it does take some time and patience to put the piece together. My husband is in the construction business and does a lot of woodworking projects as a hobby. Even so, it took the two of us almost three hours to assemble. The “rustic” antique black looks nice, but due to the ROUGH texture of the wood I think it will be extremely hard to dust. The dust clothe will catch in the wood. For the cost, I think I should have kept looking. I also believe that photos of the lower section should have been available to view. I do “like” the armoire, but I don’t “love” it. I guess it will do the job. I hung coats & jackets from the clothes rod and beneath the shelf I installed I put my capris. I used the other shelf in the lower section and placed my jeans in there. It’s very roomy. Note, it states there are 3 shelves and there were only 2 actual shelves in the unit. I guess if you placed 2 shelves in the upper section that you would have 3 separate spaces if you count the bottom of the upper area as the 3rd shelf. Hope picture helps if you’re trying to decide..
