It was easy to add this fan to a location where a porch light was no longer needed. I purchased a 3 way switch and connected inside so that we can change the speed with a wall switch. It is very comparable in sound and pressure to the same desk top fan that I use in my bedroom. My husband loves this fan in his mancave of a garage. It has 3 speeds, and on 1, it is powerful. He installed it from a garage rafter, and it can tilt up , down, and side to side. We have a "Florida basement" storage room in our modern organic coastal home that needed a light. This was perfect, nice (not cheap) quality and a little fun.
