I just put this together, but it appears to be a well-made product. It was fairly easy to assemble (I did it alone). There are extra holes drilled into the side beams so you can vary the shelving height. I chose to install them as shown in the photo. I wish that the little hooks they provide could be attached to the top shelf instead of right in the middle. I can't see myself using them since anything hanging from those hooks will be pretty close to the floor. I absolutely love this solid real wood island! You can't beat the price. Well it is real wood, it is a lighter wood. I did have a few small pieces with some splintering defects because of this, but nothing a little wood glue can't fix. Other than that, I didn't have any issues with assembly like what other reviewers noted. I found assembly to be rather easy. The pieces were all numbered, but a lot of the numbers had fallen off in the box or elsewhere. This wasn't a big deal as the instructions have good pictures and I was able to figure out which pieces correlated with which numbers. Generally pretty happy with this. Feels solid, instructions were clear, easy to put together. Only issue was that on the middle shelf, not sure if the pilot holes underneath weren't deep enough, but the screws to secure it to the bar ended up creating enough pressure that it pushed a point up and cracked the finish, and the screws hadn't even gone in all the way yet. But not major enough to really notice unless you look closely. I enjoy the simple and minimalistic design that allowed me to avoid creating holes to put up shelves while still having shelves.. Jose.
