I read many reviews that had me worried after I ordered it, so I saved the box in case I had to return it. But so far, I have not had any of the negative issues that other readers posted. Contrary to what I read, I did not find this machine to be too loud. It heats water to a hot temperature. My son used a hot cocoa pod and he had to wait for it to cook down a bit , because he was too lazy to just add a little milk to it to help it cool down. This machine yields out EXACTLY the same amount of liquid as what I put in it (yes I used a measuring cup just to make sure) and as far as the too weak or too strong of a brew...I tried different flavored pods, and they were true to the flavor of the pods that I brewed...the medium or light.... brewed light, the dark ones brewed a dark strong brew, and it yielded the same amount as the water that I put in....so my conclusion would have to be that other consumers k-pods maybe we’re not the right flavor for them....maybe switch to a light roast or a dark roast k-pod depending on your taste. So far, no issues with it, and perfect for my needs. I hope this review helps others who are reading the negative reviews, I try to be honest, and factual with any reviews I leave, since I also depend on other readers reviews to make my purchases.. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just received "The Scoop" from Hamilton Beach. A timely and welcome addition to my kitchen as my commercial brand single cup machine just died. Right away I can see the simplicity and practicality of the design. Max fill hole in the reservoir (like a sink) means no overflows up front. Services regular cups/mugs with a pull-up platform as well as a 14 oz. travel mug on the base. The two-part filter up front means no paper filers are disassembly required to rinse and clean. The grounds container has a handle to quick and easy disposal of grounds. I've also used The Scoop for tea. You can either put the bag in the handled filter or, if you prefer a stronger cuppa, toss the bag into your cup/mug. The Scoop makes it easy to compost by allowing the quick transfer of grounds and tea bags to your container of choice AND eliminates teh need for plastic cup waste and paper filters to fill the trash can and land fill.
