The memory foam mattress topper feels more like egg crate material than the other gel foam mattress pad we have had, but it does add a slight layer of comfort to the mattress. Since it is only an inch and a 1/2 thick, it doesn’t add a lot of softness or support, but it does help a little. We have a very nice memory foam mattress, but it is just a little too firm for us when we sleep on our sides (shoulders and hips end up hurting), so we needed this to help soften it up. We can’t get a thicker one because even the deep pocket sheets wouldn’t fit our mattress if we did. If you have a terribly uncomfortable mattress that isn’t thick, I would opt for a thicker mattress topper. If you are like us and can’t really add that much height, this does help some.. Fawn.
