Got this loft bed for my 8 year old daughter. Its perfect for her needs. The desk is a little small (ie short) but it still works. I wanted it more as a study desk. We live in an apartment so the bed firs perfectly. Its low and doesnt take up that much space. Theres also lots of room underneath the bed to crawl around and hide. This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down.
