Press the knobs on either side so the metal can slide, then step on the metal bar between the legs and pull your body upwards while continuing to depress the metal buttons. This table showed up, and basically it is what I expected it to be. It seems to be a solid plastic surface. It is a little heavy when I fold it up and carry it. I am 65 years old, and getting it up my stairs was manageable but not easy. But then if it was lighter it would be flimsy, and this is quite solid. It does have a handle that make moving it easier.
