I was super nervous to cut into my metal downspout, but measured and eyeballed it a dozen times. Then did it! An hour later we got a big rain and this new 60 gallon barrel got filled to the brim and started using the overflow hose. I'll be using all that water to irrigate my little herb and veggie garden for weeks now. I'm glad this kit came with an overflow hose. You might be able to see in my pictures that I routed it into the french drain of my downspout. That way I won't get any erosion near the barrel. The overflow hose was pretty long, but just about 1" short for my setup. A $9 hose from the toilet section of the hardware store fixed that though.. Amy. Frisco, TX. 2019-06-18 07:38:45

I did a fair amount of research on these rain barrels (thanks to all the reviewers out there) and went with Ivy based on the reviews. I waited until I had fully used it to review, and I have to say, this one is really good. You can see from the photos that I put it on several inches of concrete blocks to get enough height to feed the water. My original hose was too long, but this little 25 footer works fine. The plastic nozzle fitting was disappointing -- I thought it would be metal -- but it's working so far. The overflow hose is not long enough, so you can see the kludgy set up I've got to get it into the plants, but I'll fix that. 50 gals perfectly watered my entire little garden.. Janet. The Moby 65 gallon rain barrel by Rain Water Solutions is sturdy and does the job well. Rain came to our area yesterday evening and overnight filled the barrel. I located it at a rear corner of our house, on an existing cement pad, and elevated additionally with cap blocks. The upper spigot is high enough now for the gravity fed water to flow very well to our nearby garden boxes (18 inches tall). Am impressed with how the order was handled – fast delivery and came as advertised. It comes with all the miscellaneous parts including one spigot, plug, overflow hose, screen, cap and cap screws, even Teflon tape. I decided to buy a second spigot for the lower access point vice using the plug. Reason – much easier to drain the last few gallons of water if needed. First let me say these are large barrels. They are chest-high on me, and i am 5' 7". We live in Alabama and a good rain shower fills all three of my 90 Gallon barrels in no time. The planter stand on top ineeds a little tweaking to keep the dirt from getting splashed out, but I chose to keep my plants in cotainers and that is working well. We replaced the plastic splash guard with 1/4 wire mesh and stopped the back-splashing from gutter spout. Flow from spigots is slow, but that is how gravity-fed things work. We placed a short hose on bottom spigot and have no trouble emptying the barrel. At the end of season we will empty and clean the barrels and place them on short platforms to increase flowage next year and make access to the bottom spigot easier.
