Christmas 2021. Purchased as a gift. Well packed and protected, arrived whole! It's hard to say something different than all the other reviews here but I came up with a couple of things to know. Firstly, I am a Frank Lloyd Wright fan but no expert. I have been inside his home in Fallingwater Pennsyvlania and his homes in Chicago. I have a Fallingwater framed print in my family room. When guests visit, they see the print and it opens a conversation about Frank Lloyd Wright. I had hoped for the same with these glasses; that is, guests would use them and ask about the design, again, opening a conversation. So, there is a very small card inside one of the glasses which must be saved somewhere convenient if one wants to have that conversation. The card describes the provenance, the inception, the origin and source of the 'Tree of Life' motif which Wright used in Buffalo, New York. Frank Lloyd Wright designed the 'Tree of Life' windows as part of his complete architectural vision for the Darwin D. Martin home in Buffalo, New York (1903–1905). All of the windows on the second floor of the Martin House, where the bedrooms are located, used the Tree of Life motif, echoing the treetops visible outside. Wright wrote to Martin, “We haven’t designed ‘leaded glass’ for you, we have designed a dainty metal grille with glass insertion.”
So, when you unpack the glasses from the box, look for this informational card. The second thing to look for, is when you hand wash the glasses for the first time, there is a square imprint on the bottom of each glass which looks like it could be a paper label that you can scrape off. It is not a paper label. It is a logo that is actually etched into the bottom of each glass. Hope this helps. Enjoy your glasses.. Andrew. Canton, OH. 2022-01-03 14:08:24
