This thing is HEAVY and SOLID. I have three adult cats who needed something to replace their old cat tree. This was definitely an upgrade! I live alone and have MS, so there was no one to help assemble this. But it arrives mostly already assembled; the base is already put together. All you have to do is screw the three (nice, large) perches to the three posts (two shorter and one longer), and then screw the posts to the base. As you can see in the photo, one of my cats was immediately curious about the new tree. They now all three play and sleep on it. They've also discovered the sisal-covered post for scratching their talons. A carpeted cat tree is much nicer than one covered in plush (like my old one was) and well worth the extra cost. I have two very happy boys who are enjoying their first tall cat tree... Xander is 16 lbs and Jaxon is 12 lbs (to give you an idea of how they each fit). It took me months and months to find the right tree for them because they are crazy, active and STRONG Bengals... I've been so afraid of them leaping off the top and watching it wobble and crashing to the floor (wouldn't make my downstairs neighbor very happy, I'm sure!!). But this is a solid, heavy unit - it doesn't even rock a little bit no matter what these two do. :) I'm so happy I decided to go with this model.... Also, the only thing you need to do to "put it together", is screw the top perch/beam piece onto the 2nd level - that's it! No tools needed at all. The only minor critiques I have are: 1) carpeting could be a little better quality, and 2) carpet the underneath of the 2nd & 3rd level perches. The tree structure feels well-made and stable however the carpet is extremely cheap, and the color is nowhere near the color shown in the brown item photo (see my photo). One complaint that I have with most cat trees—including this one—is that the jump from one perch to the next is nearly vertical which means it’s not suitable for elderly cats. I have two 10 pound cats with congenital issues that restrict mobility. I needed a cat tree that was short, stable and sturdy. They throw their weight around climbing so I needed a cat tree that would not wobble or fall over. This cat tree is perfect! It has very nice thick carpeting as well that does not slip. It comes in one piece ready to use. It actually surpassed my expectations considering the type of pet (and human) furniture available these days. The price is reasonable. I wanted to be able to give this condo 5 stars. After all, the small size is perfect for my purposes (screened porch area); my cats took to it immediately; it arrived in the right color. HOWEVER, for the money it is cheaply made, or at least the carpeting is cheap. IMO, it is not worth $25 much less $138. I cannot see it lasting very long. See photos. On every one of the 4 perches as well as the base, the rug backing is exposed, as are multiple staples throughout. This wouldn't bother me if it was just one or two spots, but it is all over the condo. Everywhere. The carpeting is SUPER thin, and you can easily see huge spaces between carpet fibers, and it's especially bad where the carpeting is wrapped around the tops of perches; in those spots it looks like very cheap and inferior carpet. But also it appears the condo was thrown together in a hurry with no pride in workmanship: there's an area on the tall vertical post where the carpeting pieces didn't even come together at a seam, leaving a gap of about 2"x 1/2" and exposing the wood of the post itself. We needed something big and sturdy for our full size cats (15 pounds). This works but not without some help -- the posts, especially the middle one, are too wobbly. The cats want to scratch on it and climb it but the wobble turns them off. I screwed them in as far as they can go but I had to add "L" braces and 8 screws to eliminate the wobble on the middle post.
