I wanted to be able to give this condo 5 stars. After all, the small size is perfect for my purposes (screened porch area); my cats took to it immediately; it arrived in the right color. HOWEVER, for the money it is cheaply made, or at least the carpeting is cheap. IMO, it is not worth $25 much less $138. I cannot see it lasting very long. See photos. On every one of the 4 perches as well as the base, the rug backing is exposed, as are multiple staples throughout. This wouldn't bother me if it was just one or two spots, but it is all over the condo. Everywhere. The carpeting is SUPER thin, and you can easily see huge spaces between carpet fibers, and it's especially bad where the carpeting is wrapped around the tops of perches; in those spots it looks like very cheap and inferior carpet. But also it appears the condo was thrown together in a hurry with no pride in workmanship: there's an area on the tall vertical post where the carpeting pieces didn't even come together at a seam, leaving a gap of about 2"x 1/2" and exposing the wood of the post itself. This thing is HEAVY and SOLID. I have three adult cats who needed something to replace their old cat tree. This was definitely an upgrade! I live alone and have MS, so there was no one to help assemble this. But it arrives mostly already assembled; the base is already put together. All you have to do is screw the three (nice, large) perches to the three posts (two shorter and one longer), and then screw the posts to the base. As you can see in the photo, one of my cats was immediately curious about the new tree. They now all three play and sleep on it. They've also discovered the sisal-covered post for scratching their talons. A carpeted cat tree is much nicer than one covered in plush (like my old one was) and well worth the extra cost. I like the overall quality of the cat tree, its staggered levels and the ease of putting the few parts together (just by screwing them on - takes just a minute). It is sturdy and the cats love it, even though they are just 3 months old, then can climb to the top and the size of the platforms and beds is perfect for them to grow into - definitely would hold a full grown cat and right now, two kittens at a time. Uses commercial carpeting vs the plush fabric which looks worn and old very quickly on other cheaper competitors products. I believe this will last me quite a while, even with my very active, climbing loving young cats. I love the height and specifically bought this model after a long search for 3 main reasons: quality materials (like real carpet), lots of height, and it came in 'gray' color. The reasonable price for these 3 things also helped. The only thing that keeps me from giving this 5 stars is that the color is NOT gray as indicated in the picture and in the description. I seriously considered returning this because the color listed on the packing slip was 'neutral' and the item is more of a brown/beige than gray. I have light gray carpeting in the room in which this cat condo resides. In the picture you can see the color difference, which I believe Wayfair knew (as their packing slip indicated), but which doesn't match the description or picture. I would have considered other models if I knew the color that would arrive. But, since my cats use it and it is 'neutral' enough to work in the room, I will keep it, but I definitely grumbled about the color difference the whole day it arrived. That wasted a lot of my time looking specifically at models that had a color I wanted and mangled some of my decorating goals. That is not the fault of this product though, which is a great product and worth the price. It is the fault of whoever checks the stock and/or posts these descriptions/pictures.. Erika. We needed something big and sturdy for our full size cats (15 pounds). This works but not without some help -- the posts, especially the middle one, are too wobbly. The cats want to scratch on it and climb it but the wobble turns them off. I screwed them in as far as they can go but I had to add "L" braces and 8 screws to eliminate the wobble on the middle post. A quality cat tree needs to meet three essential criteria: 1) It must be tall enough to excite a cat's climbing instinct; 2) It must be durable, covered in quality sisal and tough carpet (not the faux fur that covers many of the cheapest models) to entice cats to do their stretching and scratching on the tree rather than on human furniture; and 3) It must be safe. This cat tree meets the first two requirements, but not the third. Simply, this cat tree's center of gravity is too high, because the base is not wide enough or heavy enough. My cat took to this--his third tree--immediately, but he found it difficult to get back down from the top shelf, because it is almost directly above the second-highest shelf. When he tried to leap from the top, he pushed over the entire tree which then struck and broke and end table lamp. I moved the tree to a different area of the house, but two more times, now, he has knocked over the entire tree while jumping down from it. This would pose a risk in a house with children.
