I'm very pleased with this item so much so that I ordered a second. It definitely can support a a drink and a plate. Is it as sturdy as a four legged wood table - no. But as an outdoor accent table between two chairs it fits just fine. I was happy to see that the metal feett were pliable because I needed to adjust them slightly so that they were flat against my uneven slate patio.
