This is the REAL version of the Venetian Gondola. Fully functional at 14-feet long and beautifully painted in its original color black with white stripe. We also have a 24 and 36 feet long gondola available, upon request. This boat was completely handcrafted and takes about 600-800 hours to build. We still use the traditional method of construction while integrating the highest quality of materials currently available. Strips of red cedars are joined together by hand and then encapsulated in fiberglass bonded in place with epoxy resin then coated with marine vanish. This combination of fiberglass and epoxy is very strong and the wood will be protected for generations. Important Note: Please be aware that this gondola is a SPECIAL ORDER item which means right after you have placed the order, it will take about 30-60 days for us to build and ship it to you.

The most famous and characteristic symbol of Venice is the Gondola. This boat represents a typical Venetian Gondola circa 1882. The model now is rebuilt without the roof in the middle of the boat and used to carry tourists along the Venice river in Italy.

The San Felipe was one of the most beautiful Spanish ships in the 1600s. Launched in 1690, it had 96 cannons and was the lead ship of the feared Spanish Armada. It was powerful enough to go up against the most formidable ships in the French and British navies. In 1705, the San Felipe and 11 other Spanish ships waged a furious and heroic battle against 35 British ships. After 24 hours of fighting, the San Felipe was captured but was so badly damaged that it could not be salvaged as a prize. It sank with several tons of gold.

I tried building one of these ships from a kit, the HMS Fly. Ten years into it and over $1K in glues, tools and supplies I gave up (worked on it maybe a week a year as I quickly grew frustrated by the difficulty). I'm certainly not anywhere as skilled to assemble one of these ships as whomever built the San Felipe purchased from Wayfair. The ship is very high quality for the price and looks great in the dining room. The only improvement I have is that the Spanish flag is the modern day one adopted in 1981, in my opinion the ship should come with the flag of the period. The ship is amazing and I love looking at it and imagining what it must have looked like in real life. Today a bought a second ship for my office, the Royal Louis, can't wait for it to arrive.. This is a gigantic 13 feet long museum-quality replica of San Felipe, one of the most beautiful Spanish galleons of the XVII century. This is a limited and exclusive edition. The first one was built for a museum in Europe. Master craftsmen using historical photographs, drawings or original plans meticulously handcraft this highly detailed model from scratch. It was built to scale with high-grade wood such as western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. It is 100% hand-built using plank-on-frame construction method and is similar to the building of the actual ship. The model requires thousands of hours to finish and went through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. This massive San Felipe XXXL model features plank on frame, three decks, and three rows of ferocious cannons on each side of the ship. A unique bowsprit design that consists of brass statues and crafted brass ornaments on the panels. The front bowsprit and three large masts are connected securely using advanced rigging and lines painstakingly knotted and fastened by hand. Each yard has an attached hand-stitched rolled-up sail made of fine linen. Metal anchors and a wooden rudder are visible on the front and rear of the ship. On the deck, there are metal stationed cannons, authentic hand-built lifeboats with ribs and planks, wooden cabin, and many other handcrafted ornaments. There is also an exquisite detailed admiral's quarter on the stern with a beautifully handcrafted metal lantern, amazing metal crafted statues, and many other spectacular brass ornaments.
