Though it’s technically an outdoor mat, I actually use this as an indoor one. I’m allergic to my parents’ dogs and having this mat down at the threshold of my bedroom door really helps minimize the tracking of dog hair from the rest of the house into my room.
It’s easy to clean, and while the mat’s weave DOES have a bristly—not silky or soft—texture (like most outdoor mats), it doesn’t feel harsh like rough wire or brillo padding the way some outdoor mats do in order to really brush dirt and debris out of the soles of dirty shoes before the wearer steps inside the house. The mat feels rough for sure, but I *don’t* have to put shoes on in order to step on it without hurting my feet.
The image quality is fairly good for a coarse-weave outdoor mat of this type, and the colors are vibrant. The mat feels fairly durable and I have not experienced a great deal of fiber shedding from walking on it, wiping shoes on it, or from brushingremoving the hair and bits the mat does a great job of trapping at the entrance to my room.
Finally, I think it worthwhile to mention that although it has a non-slip back, the rubber doesn’t have a strong chemical smell.
