It had been recommended by a friend that used it and a professional installer also insisted upon it. I also took the time to read the reviews and I called the factory for additional information. I had a previous 1000 square foot carpeted cement floor and the carpet needed replacement. we liked the look of vinyl but knew we would need a good underlayment. ECF is that product and more. Waterproof with a vapor barrier, cushioning effect but not spongy. The easiest product to ever put down. Lays flat. a unique way of attaching to each other making for a perfect fit and easy to cut and shape where shaping is needed. It seems a bit pricey but consider the long term use it provides it is really not meaningful. Having the best underlayment is the most important consideration when putting down any flooring.
