The knives are great and sharp, the block is solid and gorgeous, though pretty large. One of our knives has a different logo on it than the rest and one of them doesnt rest in its slot properly so it falls a bit unless you specifically adjust it (see photos). These knives are SHARP! I knew that I wanted a self sharpening block so I was deciding between the Modernist and the Statement set. I chose this because of the the curved handle. I feel the grip is better and with such sharp knives, and you need to be able to cut and chop without slipping off of the handle. Slicing tomatoes is like cutting through butter now and making my own salsa is easier than! The pictures of the knives and their length are on the box so I referred to it and the description of the knife right on the blade to know where to place it in the block. The block is quite large so luckily I have an island to put it on although it would have fit on my counter as well. Time will tell if the sharpening feature works as hoped. These are really nice, I waited to use them first and they work great. I love the scissors because they cut through everything. The base is a nice charcoal grey with a shimmer to it and the little man detail on the knives are super cute.I do wish the handles would of faced down but not that huge of a deal , more of a preference.
