This is a very nice cat shelter for the feral cat that has moved into my yard . Very simple to assemble, sturdy and looks like it will hold up in the Midwest weather. The roof is hinged and the floor is removable. To insure that the floor is not pushed up by a predator, I added two bricks inside the shelter. We are extremely pleased with the cat villa. It was not difficult to assemble; pre-drilled holes were accurately placed, all parts were present and the instructions were clear and thorough. The villa is made out of solid wood and the glass doors hang perfectly. There are multiple levels which are easy for the cats to navigate. I have two cats that use it. One cat is 17 lbs and the other is 10 lbs. They each have a fluffy pad on two of the levels to sleep on. I have placed a full size litter box with high sides on the lowest level. A bowl each of water and dry food are on the platforms. My cats are still getting used to the new routine of spending time in the villa but neither are stressed by being in it and usually are asleep in a short time. We love this catio! We use it for an out door enclosure for rehabbing opossums. We added a lot of branches for climbing, and the metal wiring is the perfect size to keep raccoons out and opossums in. The nest boxes are great too! We’re extremely happy with the purchase and the opossums are too! There’s a small door on the bottom which works great for soft release is on your property. Love this little cathouse! My husband and I built a deck to elevate the house for our two stray cats. They haven’t gone inside yet, but have been up on the deck to eat and check out the house. I have no doubt once they try it out they will love it❤️. It seems to be a fairly sturdy little house and was pretty easy to put together. My feral cat had kittens in this box about 4 months ago and has been sleeping in it at night ever since. She goes underneath to lay in the shade, and also sits on top of the house to get a view. It’s cute watching her teach her kitten how to use it. Whole thing is insulated in the interior and made of wood. The wood will start to split in the weather which hasn’t affected it structurally so far, but if you’re handy it would make sense to cover the exterior with a coat of poly. We were looking for a safe way to let our indoor cats be with us outside (because lets face it, all cats want to go outside) without them running around the neighborhood, getting lost, or hurting themselves. Welp, this was the answer! Right away, our cats had different reactions. One seemed to be content and immediately took to it. The other seemed to feel threatened initially, like she was being put in a big cage (instead of being allowed safely outside as a treat). But, after we let the second cat stay in it by herself for awhile while we worked outside in the garden, she grew more and more content and actually started to thoroughly enjoy her time in the habitat, not wanting to go back in the house. :) We are planning to put in some cat beds and a water dish and a kitty litter on the bottom. My indoor/outdoor cat loves this house. It was easy to put together, the built-in heater works great, and it’s the perfect size for a larger cat (mine is 14 lbs). I even placed a camera inside so I can check whether he’s in there. I did make a few small modifications—specifically shortening the legs—because he was hesitant to go inside at first. My suspicion that the height was the issue turned out to be correct; the very next day, he happily went into his house. It's very well insulated as well.
